S1 Starters: Managing Transition to Adolescence and Secondary School
October 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
The move to secondary school means a number of major changes for all children. While most children are able to cope and get accustomed to them, some may struggle and may require additional support. For a few, lack of preparation or support can result in them floundering and facing difficulties such as lack of confidence, inability to make new friends and adjusting to the new academic curriculum. This could negatively affect them throughout their remaining secondary school days.
Takeaways for parents:
- Understand changes in transition & adolescent stage
- Staying engaged with your teen
- Set limits to behaviour but pick your battles
- Offer emotional support through empathy
- Practical tips to manage the transition
Join us in this online seminar as we learn the changes experienced by our teens, how we support them emotionally, manage their behaviour and practical tips on helping them make the transition to secondary school.
