DESCRIPTION:Programme Synopsis: \nTanjore art is an ancient art form dating back 500 years ago in South India. This art technique uses pure gold and coupled with rich and vivid colours which makes it quintessentially Tanjore art. Through this workshop\, you will be taught step by step on completing your own Tanjore masterpiece. Join us for this workshop to learn more on this ancient art form and create your own Pongal masterpiece. \n  \n  \nRecommended Age: This workshop is suitable for participants 12 years and above. \n  \n  \nProgramming Highlights: \n– Create an artwork with real gold \n– Learn an ancient traditional Indian art form\, that is a rarity in Singapore \n  \n  \nWhy Join? \nCreate your own Pongal masterpiece using the ancient art technique of Tanjore. As Tanjore paintings are an artform that uses real gold\, it is an expensive technique to pick up\, so join these sessions at IHC for the opportunity to try your hand at it with all materials provided. You will get to create a grand piece of artwork to show off in your home! \n  \n  \nAbout IHC Open House 2023 \nThe annual Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) will be celebrating the Pongal over two weekend-long festival through arts performances\, craft workshops\, lecture demonstrations and Little India trails. The festival hopes to promote a greater sense of pride and identity in the rich cultural heritage in Singapore. DESCRIPTION:Venu Nadam: The Story Of Its Origin \n  \nThe concert brings together some of Singapore’s flautists under the banner of “The Vamshika Quintet”\, presenting their unique relationship with the sound of the bamboo flutes. \n  \nListen to exciting arrangements of Indian classical music with musical accompaniment by Lazar T. Sebastian on the Carnatic Violin and Viknash Balakrishnan on the Mridangam. \n  \nThe concert also features two extraordinary musicians: Rit Xu (Flute) and Jacky Ng (Suona). \n  \nThe Music Advisor and Conductor of the concert include Vidwan Amit Nadig and Vidwan Dr Ghanavenothan\, respectively. \n  \nThe concert is organised by Brahmastra and supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore). \n  \nJoin us and be enthralled by the voices of “The Vamshika Quintet”. \n  \nTickets: $25
