She founded The Storytelling Centre Ltd to advance the art of storytelling through the Young Storytellers Mentorship Programme and the annual StoryFest Singapore. \n\n \n  \nAbout Nova Nelson \nNova is a Permaculture Designer\, a gardening coach\, community farmer and educator. In 2013 she started Cultivate Central as a blog about her journey in Permaculture Design. Her work has reached over 8000 students through gardening based educational programmes\, 500 educators and building over a dozen productive food spaces. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Bharatanatyam: One of the Classical Dance forms of India \n  \n\nDuration: 60mins\nMeeting Point: Goodman Grows Community Farm\nFees: S$5\nAge Group: 5 to 10 years\n\n  \nThere is a general perception that Indian Classical dance cannot be appreciated because of language barriers or the art form is simply unfathomable. The workshop aims to break this mindset by introducing the fundamental aesthetics of Indian Classical dance in both its indigenous and modern contexts in a simplified and yet easily understood manner. \n  \nThe structured lecture-demonstration will include the use of visual presentation and “live” demonstration by the students of Apsaras Arts. References to nature\, animals\, common folklore stories\, history\, architecture and carefully selected social elements will be used in the lecture-demonstrations to help participants easily identify with the subject matter. In so doing\, participants will develop a comfort level and confidence in attempting to watch an Indian Classical dance repertoire\, hence nurturing and developing a keen interest in the appreciation of the Indian Classical dance form. \n\n \n  \nAbout the Artists \nApsaras Arts was founded in Singapore in 1977 by Shri S Sathyalingam and Smt Neila Sathyalingam\, alumni and former faculty members of Kalakshetra\, India.
