SIET SINDA Charity Golf 2025

Providing educational opportunities to financially strapped young adults with strong potential is both a moral imperative and a strategic investment in society’s future. These individuals often possess the drive, talent, and ambition to contribute meaningfully to their communities and economies, but may be held back by structural barriers beyond their control. By removing financial obstacles and opening access to quality education, we unlock a wealth of untapped human capital, fostering innovation, reducing inequality, and creating a more inclusive, resilient workforce. In a world where talent is universal, but opportunity is not, targeted support can turn personal promise into collective progress.

This belief lies at the heart of both the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) and the Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET).

A Cause Worth Supporting

Since its inception in 2007, the SIET Charity Golf event has raised over $2 million to support deserving young Indian students in Singapore. Every year, more than 100 golfers come together, driven by their love for the game and an even greater passion for giving back.

This year’s SIET-SINDA Charity Golf 2025 will be held on Friday, 22 August 2025, at Warren Golf & Country Club. The event promises a day of spirited golf, followed by an evening of camaraderie, a lucky draw, a sumptuous dinner, and exciting prizes — all generously sponsored by kind-hearted donors.

SIET’s Role in Transforming Lives

Formed in 1967 by visionary trade unionist G. Kandasamy, SIET has remained steadfast in its mission to uplift the Indian community through education. Each year, SIET provides bursaries, interest-free loans, and grants to over 200 students, from ITE to university level.

These financial awards do more than ease monetary burdens — they nurture ambition, unlock potential, and change the trajectory of young lives. Partnerships, like the one with the Salleh Marican Foundation, further amplify these efforts of SIET, demonstrating how collective generosity can shape a community’s future.

Why This Event Matters

As this year’s Charity Golf Chairman, T. Shanmugaratnam, aptly shares, “Our goal is not only to raise vital funds but to raise awareness — so that no deserving student is left behind because of financial hardship. We want to support their dreams and ease the worries of their families.”

Echoing this sentiment, SIET Chairman Jayaprakash Jagateesan reflects on the deeper meaning behind the community’s unwavering support:

“We are deeply inspired by our volunteers’ commitment to empower young adults through education. By investing in their potential, we not only break down barriers but also pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for our society. With every contribution, we can turn hope into opportunity and dreams into reality.”

This event beautifully unites two passions — the love for golf and the desire to uplift the next generation. It was initiated by a group of golfing enthusiasts who believed in making a tangible difference, and today it stands as a testament to what a compassionate community can achieve.

Your generosity, whether big or small, will directly impact young lives. By participating in the golf game, attending the dinner, sponsoring prizes, or donating funds, you are investing in a child’s future — and by extension, the future of our community.

Together, let’s give our children the education they deserve — and the chance to write a brighter story for themselves and the generations to come.
