SINDA’s ‘Let Her Shine!’ ShineSpire Conference featured 25 women professionals from a cross-section of sectors sharing their experiences and advice on physical and mental health and personal and professional growth.

Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for National Development and SINDA President also participated in the discussions.

“This Conference creates space for Indian women to engage in discussions on a range of topics that cover various facets of life, even topics that may not often be discussed at home,” Ms Indranee said.

She added: “The idea of family involvement has also been weaved into our panel discussions, to foster intergenerational dialogue and understanding. Engaging in meaningful discussions on key issues not only strengthens familial bonds; but empowers the next generation of change-makers.”

Ms Pavithra Venkatesan, Engineer at Tech Onshore MEP Prefabricators, said that the conference offers a glimpse into the lives of women who have navigated tough situations and conversations at work and in their personal lives. It’s an opportunity for our youth to watch, listen, learn, network and grow, she said.

In the professional growth segment, there was emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields, a field which according to SINDA was underrepresented by Indian women. The SINDA press statement highlighted that “according to the 2024 Progress On Singapore Women’s Development Report, Singapore has seen notable progress in women’s participation in traditionally male-dominated sectors like STEM and women have achieved significant advancements, holding leadership roles in both private and public sectors, however full participation is still a work in progress.”

The conference was organised in collaboration with 22 private and public organisations across government services, media, healthcare, engineering, and finance.

It is part of SINDA’s ‘Let Her Shine!’ programme, an initiative launched in 2022 to equip Indian women from ages 7 to 35, with knowledge for a healthy lifestyle and mindset. ‘Let Her Shine!’ also includes initiatives such as mentoring, skill development programmes, and well-being workshops.
